Junior Infants really enjoyed the school Hallowe’en celebrations. We all looked great in our Hallowe’en costumes. We played traditional Hallowe’en games and had a spooky boogie with Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class in the halla.
Junior Infants celebrated Maths Week and enjoyed lots of Maths games and activities. We played matching and sorting games on the I-pads, we made shapes and played matching card games. We have been looking out for numbers and shapes all around us. We really enjoyed using our Maths eyes finding shapes and counting on a Maths trail around the school. Thanks to Andrew’s Fourth class for helping us with our Maths trail!
Junior Infants celebrated National Tree Day on Thursday 5th October. We went on a nature trail in the school grounds and collected fallen leaves and acorns. We are very lucky to have lovely oak trees growing in our school grounds. We learned all about the parts of a tree and made leaf prints with the collected leaves.
Junior Infants have really enjoyed making our own timelines for History. We loved showing each other our baby photos and sorting objects into things we used when we were babies and things we use now.
We really enjoy getting up and dancing for a movement break during the day.
We say nursery rhymes and sing songs everyday. We particularly enjoyed singing and acting out ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Five Green and speckled frogs’. We then painted them for art.
We have had a fun start to Junior Infants. Everyone has been working hard at learning the sounds – s, a and t. We have been working in groups for our morning activities with lego, pegboards, cutting, jigsaws and threading. Our Aistear theme this month is ‘School’ and we have had lots of fun with the roleplay area, construction area, art box, playdough station and small world activities.
Toyday on Friday is a lot of fun! We are very good at listening to each other as we do ‘Show and Tell’ and have all been very kind sharing our toys.
