It has been a busy few weeks here in fourth class with plenty of fun activities such as our school tour, the talent show, culture evening and a trip to the library!
We have explored a range of topics in Maths from 2D and 3D shapes and time to looking at area and perimeter. We have also revised all the different operations as well as becoming problem solving geniuses!
We had great fun constructing regular and irregular 3D shapes from marshmallows and cocktail sticks!
We were learning about different religions and cultures and the importance of appreciating the wonderful diversity that society offers us. This also was the theme of our class assembly that we all performed fantastically at.
We were very proud to receive our Write a Book certificates. Its safe to say that we have some blossoming authors in our future! In class we have been working hard on our writing skills and all engaged in writing activities based on a imaginative recount of our meeting with a mythical creature. 4th class absolutely loved writing these stories and it was fantastic to see the array of imagination used.
We had such a fantastic day on our school tour to Castlecomer Discovery Park and were delighted to be able to share the day with Andrew’s 4th and Oísin’s 5th class.
The lovely weather has meant we could at times complete our work outdoors as well as enjoying our lunch outside which has been most enjoyable!
The range of talent displayed by fourth class in the school talent show was absolutely astonishing and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of you, you were real superstars!
Fourth class have been busy settling into their new class and plenty of learning has been taking place. This month we enjoyed responding to theme music and showcasing our interpretations of these through creating pictures outdoors using chalk, it was a great opportunity to enjoy the sunshine also!
We also very much enjoyed making our Insta Easter Bunnies, this really got our creative juices flowing!
Táimid ag foghlaim alán focail nua as Gaeilge! Táimid ag baint úsáid as go leor gníomhaíochtaí idirghníomhacha agus drámaíocht chun an teanga a usáid go nádúrtha i rith an lae
In history we were researching the differences in grocery stores fifty years ago in comparison to today. We used iPads to complete this research and worked fantastically in pairs to find out lots of information.
In maths we have been using a variety of oral games to strengthen our mathematical awareness and speed. 2D and 3D shapes and capacity are the areas we have been focusing on.
I hope everyone enjoys the break and returns refreshed for an exciting last term!
