May and June were very busy and of course filled with fun for Senior Infants. We went to Dublin Zoo on our school tour and had a great day on Sport’s Day! Here are some highlights of what we got up to and learned about these past two months.
We have had a great April in Senior Infants. We learned all about plants and even grew our own radish seeds, we loved looking after them and tracking their progress! In Aistear we explored the theme of the Garden Centre, taking on the role of horticulturists. We did some fantastic work this month, as displayed on our “Out of this World work” board. We painted bright sunflowers and learned about the parts of a plant. Senior Infants are now plant experts after this busy month!
We had a great March in Senior Infants, with fun events for Seachtain na Gaeilge and an Easter egg hunt! We loved dancing at the céilí and singing as Gaeilge at the ceolchoirm.
It has been another busy and fun-filled month for Senior Infants! We had our Science Exhibition, our first swimming lesson and performed at assembly for the whole school. We loved carrying out the different science experiments and investigations, especially the lava lamps and Oobleck slime! Our first swimming lesson of the year was lots of fun and we really enjoyed playing in the water. For our assembly we learned all about the different emotions we sometimes feel and a song about being happy. Well done to Senior Infants for all of their hard work this month and for always trying their best!
Senior Infants have had a healthy start to 2018. We have been trying lots of new fruit and vegetables with the Food Dudes programme. In Aistear, we have been very busy with our theme “The Restaurant” and for art we have had lots of fun creating apples, bananas and grapes for our class fruit bowl display!
Senior Infants have had a very busy December! We learned songs for the Winter Wonderland concert, explored the Toy shop in Aistear and experimented with various materials and fabrics to make warm clothes for Science. We had great fun doing Christmas themed art and in Maths we learned about 3D shapes, we loved singing and dancing along to the 3D shape song. We also had our very own Elf on the Shelf called Pudding, he played lots of tricks on us and left us little notes. Our special visitor Stickman came to see us and sat with us as we read his book “The Stickman”, we loved having him in with us. Happy Christmas to you all from all of us in Senior Infants!
As Senior Infants won ” an líne is fearr” last week we went to the playground as a reward for all of our hard work. We had lots of fun, well done Senior Infants!
This month Senior Infants have been learning about animals during winter. We chatted about hibernation and made bird feeders, we then went on a winter walk and hung our bird feeders on the trees outside. In maths we have been carrying out surveys and collecting data on the class, such as our favourite colours and our favourite fruit. In Aistear we explored the theme of the Supermarket and had our very own shop in the classroom, what a busy and fun-filled month!
Senior Infants worked really hard this month. We learned about the Weather Station in Aistear, 2D shapes in maths and spent lots of time playing tricky word games. We did Halloween art like our cotton wool ghosts and our bright orange pumpkins. The last day of school, before the break, we dressed up in fancy dress and had lots of fun doing our 2D shape spooky mansion pictures. Hope everyone has a great mid-term!
Senior Infants have been busy learning about each other these last three weeks. We have also been looking back on our baby pictures and discussing how we have changed. We did self-portraits using paint and brushes. What a great way to start the year!
